Dynamic Shelf-Life

Last week at GS1 Connect, Starfish joined forces with DeltaTrak, Buyerdock - Digital Product Passport, Danaco Solutions, GS1 US, the University of South Florida, and IFPA North America to introduce a real-world cold chain and traceability solution designed specifically for the food industry.

The highlight? A breakthrough in combining traceability data across supply chain partners with cold chain temperature monitoring—enabling companies to dynamically calculate the remaining shelf life of a product based on how it was handled along its journey.

How Fresh Is It?

Scan the QR code to see real-time shelf life based on how the product was handled.

In collaboration with DeltaTrak, we showcased how real-time temperature data, when paired with end-to-end traceability, can give companies the insight they need to:

  • Optimize inventory decisions

  • Extend or shorten shelf life based on actual conditions

  • Minimize waste

  • Maximize sales and customer satisfaction

This means that a product handled with care can be prioritized differently than one that experienced a temperature excursion—creating a smarter, more responsive supply chain.

All of this information is accessible through a single 2D barcode on the case—unlocking compliance, shelf-life, sustainability, and product details in one simple scan.

It was a privilege to share this joint solution at GS1 Connect and demonstrate what’s possible when industry leaders work together to solve real problems. If you missed us at the show and want to learn more, we’d love to connect.
